About Frank Marshall

I'm a poet, playwright, and amateur songwriter. I've never had any real commercial success, but I've never really wanted any. My writing and music is for me and a select few friends. Rather than try to wade through the difficult waters of the music or publishing industries, I keep my creations pretty much to myself.

I work for a massive public library system, a job that's totally satisfying to me since I get to be around books all day long. I'm a pretty quiet guy - my co-workers would probably be shocked to read my poems and plays, which often involve a lot of "blue" material. I keep to myself. My wife and I never had kids, so our three dogs are our children. It's a simple life, but we like it that way.

I've been a Walt Whitman fan ever since grade school, the first time I was exposed to his poetry. In high school and college, I wrote essays and did all kinds of research projects about my favorite poet, and I've continued to read and enjoy his work ever since. This site is a small way for me to participate in Walt Whitman scholarship, though I think that word is a little too serious for what I plan to post here.

Expect posts about my favorite Whitman poems, stories about the man and his life, and links to all things Whitman-related. If you're a fan of Walt, feel free to leave me comments, and I'll be more than happy to talk to you about the greatest American poet that ever lived.
